Youemploy was initally intended to be a volunteer opportunity during my 2nd university year, however my team managed to integrate this site into our coursework for extra credit. Of the 4 man team, 2 now remain - myself and Mark Lang. Our time is now paid for and the wbsite should fully launch June 2012.

The site itself was built from the ground up with our own custom php framework. It is a modular framework complete with dbal, sessions, events, plugins and a templating engine called RML. The style of the site was fully prototyped by myself using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and then manually re-created using CSS/HTML. The style is currently being redeisgned to make use of Twitter's bootstrap framework.

I have been playing guitar for almost 20 years and writing my own songs for around 15. I had dabbled in web design before, creating little things for other music projects i was involved in, but nothing as big as when I released music under the pseudonym Six String Romance. Big fan of building on the phpBB framework, I built a lot of custom modules for the site (including an albums section, complete with donator access) and re-wrote 2 styles.

7Words was a great project to work on. It was a submission for one of my University modules - one which I mistook for the actual coursework - so I speant quite a bit of time on this, to find it wasn't really getting marked. Oops :P

Deftones are one of my favourite bands, so I took some influence from their website at the time (circa 2010) and what sort of themes I would employ if I was actually going to make a fansite for them. I used the deftones font to design all the images.

Back when I was full swing with phpBB - providing daily support to users, designing graphics and customising styles - I dreamt of starting my own design buisiness. Although the website is up on one of my subdomains, it's really only there for portfolio reasons. I started the initial plans, but University side-lined a lot of things for me at that point. Back on track now :)

Dougie Smith, the man who runs Wattston Bonsai, is a long time friend of mine. He was actually my guitar teacher from Primary School right through to High School. His passion for bonsai led to him looking for a website where he could sell his creations and other items, somthing a little more sohpisticated than ebay. Currently sitting on CubeCart with a customised style, I hope to move to a better ecommerce solution by the end of 2012.

A start-up that never was, I designed this website for a self-employed mobile hairdresser. After taking down some inital ideas and color schemes, I ripped apart phpBB to use it as a framework and template engine. The navigation was a modified Kwicks.

6 String MODs started life as development board for my music site (I write my own lyrics and music), but slowly evolved to a place where I would post any useful code snippets or graphics - some I chose to make, others via request. Due to time contraints and returning to University, I shut the website down in 2010 and allowed other phpBB users to distribute the snippets and tutorials I had created.

Another university website, this is the actual coursework submission that I originally thought 7Words was going to be. The class were assigned a film and asked to make a website and lucky me got Star Wars! The header section took the longest as the fixed frame with background and scrolling (at that point) did not play well cross browser. All (well most) images were hand crafted by myself and yes, that means the images on the movies page. Had to recreate them from scratch as I couldn't source anything with adequate transparency.
